A new brother and an upcoming crusade (20221001 Newsletter)

Dear Family and Friends,

Imagine the joy I felt when John drove up to our compound last week and announced, “I’m born again!”

John is an older gentleman (a mzee) who serves Welcome Home as a driver. He takes me and the teachers I’ve trained several times a week to the villages where we have our classes and do ministry. Although he attended many of the classes, he was skeptical, sarcastic and challenged us with unlimited questions in order to disrupt the class. He was argumentative and occasionally had to be told to stop by one of the village pastors or other men. John was indeed a challenge to me both spiritually and in my ministry. I finally sadly had to ask him to stay in the van and not attend the classes.

Now with a huge smile on his face he proclaimed, “I’m born again!” He met with both of our village pastors and an elder of one of the churches we serve and they introduced him to the Savior. Now he is not only our driver, he is our brother! John was excited when I handed him a Luganda Bible and said he would read it every day. I’m excited to see what God will do in this precious man.

I was asked to share my testimony/ministry with about 20 missionary ladies who serve in their various ministries in Jinja. Although I’ve shared my story many times, on this occasion I wasn’t feeling well and my mind was not clear. I thought I really messed up the talk. Afterward, as I was praying and leaving it all up to God, a woman shared with me that my talk was just for her. She said she was discouraged and felt like leaving Uganda. Sharing her story with me and a few others, we all prayed for her, encouraging her in the Lord.

I was excited to see so many people come to our evangelism training.

We will be having another crusade October 8,9. It will be for children and adults. I’ve been asked to speak at the children’s section. Please pray for this event.

I will be visiting the States for about 5 weeks beginning at the end of October. I’d love to spend time with you; hangout, share a meal, do something fun. I don’t have a SIM card for the USA yet, but you can reach me at myrapline@gmail.com or answer this newsletter.
