Baptisms, Discipleship, Growth (20220501 Newsletter)

Dear Family and Friends,

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” Eph. 1:3

I am truly blessed to serve Jesus in Uganda. The Harvest is plentiful! I was truly blessed to witness those I have led to Christ follow Him in baptism Easter morning. There is no greater thrill!

A boda boda man told me one day that all the motorcycle taxis know me, and I’m known as the boda evangelist. They tell each other that if they pick me up, I will tell them about Jesus!

Alex (the man I was training to teach English to our Welcome Home kids) is now able to teach on his own and is fully independent.

Josephine (who I was training to disciple new believers) is now teaching her classes independently.

The training of village Sunday school teachers is going very well. Josephine and I were very excited to watch the teachers use the ideas, teaching and visuals we have been giving them in the village (even paper mache!).

I had the following conversation with them during training one day:

“Mama Janet, we don’t have Bibles”

“I will get you a Bible in your language”

“We don’t know how to read it”

“Oh, that’s a problem”

“How can we teach Sunday school if we can’t read the Bible?”

I am now looking for a literacy teacher for the village.

The Bible study I lead on Wednesday nights provokes a lot of questions and good discussion from the adults and young people who attend. It is deep in the village, so I stay overnight. Last Wednesday we discussed why God allows people to be born with “defects”.

 Welcome Home News:

*       We are putting the finishing touches on our medical clinic in the village of Lwambogo, and it is just about ready to open. If you want to donate specifically toward this project, go to the Welcome Home website link below.

 *       We were blessed to have our executive director Mandy Sydo come for a few weeks. It is always a joy to have her as she brings lots of improvements for the home and village. She has been my personal friend for over 30 years.

 *       Our Welcome Home kids are learning new skills to challenge them mentally.

*     *       In June we will have a dental team come and work on the children’s teeth in Lwambogo, followed by a youth team that will volunteer at Welcome Home and Lwambogo. Their visit will climax in a children’s crusade in which I’ve been asked to share the Gospel.

Thank you for your prayers, support and for reading my newsletters.

Praise
