Training locals to do the work of the Lord (20211001 Newsletter)
Dear Family and Friends,
Eph 2:10 ESV For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
The children at Welcome Home are growing so fast. It is almost time for some of the older ones to transfer to an older children’s home or be adopted into a loving family. I will miss them. I’ve grown to love each of them as I share their smiles and laughter, as they learn to share toys or express themselves in English. Each one came to Welcome Home with a devastating story that is being transformed into something beautiful through love. I wish you were here to see it!
God is doing some new things in me and through me and I’m excited to share them with you.
- When I first began teaching during the Sunday morning service, everyone was quiet, disconnected to the teaching and to church in general. People now are commenting, asking questions, and sharing their burdens and problems for prayer. People want to know how to pray, how to listen to God, how to approach their time in Scripture.
- I was thrilled to offer an evangelism training class after several in the church asked for it. On the scheduled day, it rained all day so I postponed it. (Ugandans walk everywhere and I knew many would not come in the rain.) I received a phone call saying 14 people have gathered and they were all waiting for me. I did the training, and as a result, two so far shared the Gospel with others.
- After the training with one church member (a missionary teacher) and a young man I’m discipling, we had “hands-on” training. Well, the first two people she shared with received Christ as Savior. Her whole face lit up and I knew from that day her ministry would never be the same.
- Lukia (the young lady I prayed through “Freedom in Christ” with last month with her family, took her manual and spent four hours going through it with others. They now can use their manual with still others.
