20210501 Newsletter
As I write this, I’m looking out my window at a beautiful sunny
day and thinking all of God’s blessings to me here in Uganda. It has been a
full and rewarding month.
Welcome Home was visited last week by the minister of gender
(cabinet level in government). We were told that Welcome Home is the best
children’s home in all of Uganda Our children are happy, healthy, and well
cared for. This is because of a fantastic staff, and many prayers that go up
for Welcome Home daily.
Our older kids have been learning about the community (buildings, services, businesses) and having a great time while they improve their English skills. A highlight was visiting a cargo ship and a bread factory.
These children will be moving to the USA soon so our goal is to expose them to as much of Ugandan culture as possible (so they know their roots) while also exposing them to American culture (teaching them about US money, number systems, vocabulary, customs, etc.). They were intrigued to watch (on worship videos) American kids on skateboards, jumping off of diving boards, camping, hiking and doing other things US kids enjoy that Ugandans have little opportunity to experience.
I’ve also been leading a two-week workshop of forgiveness
at my local church. The response is encouraging as people have told me it is
life changing for them. They have learned things they never knew about
forgiveness in a way they can apply to their lives. A result of the workshop
is I’m now working with a woman at my church and her son who are serious about
growing in the Lord. I’m meeting with them once a week. (Please pray for
this as I’ve never really discipled anyone one on one before). We are working
through forgiveness and mental strongholds together.
I am genuinely encouraged by your prayers, emails, and
support. You mean so much to me. Thanks for reading my newsletters!
