20201201 Newsletter
I pray you have a meaningful Christmas and a joyful
new year.
Dear Friends and Family,
As I look back on the year 2020, I
am grateful as I remember all God has done for me here in Uganda, and in my own
life. I have grown closer to the
Lord. It is nothing dramatic like my first times in Uganda, just the comforting
presence of His love.
Our Welcome Home children
grow each day in love and laughter. They
learn about Jesus and their English skills have improved. Some have graduated
to other homes or have returned to their families after gaining strength and
health. Some have been adopted and have gone to live in other countries. Welcome Home is a place of security, hope and joy. I am
privileged to be a part of it. Thank
you for your faithful prayer and support. Without you it would not be possible.
We have entered the Christmas
season and with over 50 small children it will be BIG. Lots of fun
with balloons, games, crafts and Bible. The staff will celebrate with a white
elephant gift exchange, games, caroling and a traditional Ugandan Christmas
dinner with goat, chicken, matooke (steamed banana), dodo (greens), posho, and
soft drinks. I will lead a special Christmas Bible study twice a week in
December. It is always a special time for the children and staff.
I’ve started a Bible study
with some locals in my church. We
have a lot of fun studying the Word together. It is deep and interactive.
On a
Personal Note:
On my birthday, I was invited to an overnight ladies’
retreat at someone’s house. There were only 8 of us so we were within the
quarantine mandates for Uganda. The total cost was $5! We enjoyed a great time of Bible study and fellowship
together as fellow missionaries.
My autobiography, Different
by Design—The Journey of an Autistic Christian Missionary will be published
by the end of the year. I will
let you know when it is available. I’m going to try to publish the eBook free
for a limited time so you can download it at no expense. It will also be
available as black and white and color paperback versions.
As I look forward to next year, I am excited as I wait to
see what God has for you and for me. It will be good.
Thanks again for your
faithfulness in giving and in prayer!
