20200201 Newsletter-Fun at the zoo, friends from China

Dear Friends and Family,

I have so much to be thankful for. God has been faithful to protect me, provide for me, and keep me close to Him. I love Him more every day.

Welcome Home Children’s Center is doing well. The children grow so fast. We took 29 of our older children and 9 staff to the Entebbe Wildlife Sanctuary. It was the first time any of the children and most of the staff had ever seen a live elephant, lion, zebra, or other African safari animal. It was such a joy to see the sense of learning and excitement in their faces. I think my favorite word of the day was “WOW!”.

The favorite exhibit was the chimps

The weather has changed in Uganda. Now it is HOT! (think California high desert in August with 80% humidity.)

Welcome Home Children really enjoy cool water on a hot day!

God has given me the privilege of sharing the Gospel with several “boda-bodas” (motorcycle taxis-my chief mode of transportation) and people in the streets. We have had good conversation about the Lord. Most of them are Muslim.

Samuel (my son in the Lord) is doing well. He has several Christian friends now and is established in a church. He has finished watching him grow in the Lord. We meet together weekly to study Scripture together. Sometimes his customers join us.

Another great joy for me is working with Victor in English class. Every class is filled with laughter and lots of fun. Our students enjoy learning English, and are also growing in thinking and reasoning skills (not taught in Ugandan schools). Victor wants to be a professional teacher. He has a lot of natural ability and he is teachable. Thank you for praying for this young man.

I was so blessed this last week with visiting friends I knew from my time in China. Although the Pattersons were on vacation, I put them to work (They are both teachers and one is an English teacher so they were able to offer some help and suggestions to the teachers I work with).

Praise God!
  •   Our laundry washing machines have finally come! Our staff have labored so long, washing by hand, clothes for 70 children. I am so grateful for the hard work done by so many for so long without complaint. They are so excited to be able to use machines again!
  •   God is answering your prayers for me personally. I have been attending a house church and I’m starting to feel connected there.
  •   I also have joined a “Bible Study Fellowship” group (I’ve never done this before). It is lots of work but its an opportunity to know Jesus and His people more.

Thanks for your prayers on my behalf.
  • My guests serve in China and are unable to return because of the Coronavirus. Pray for them and healing for the people in China.
  • Several of our Welcome Home children “graduated” to an older children's’ home this week. Pray for a good adjustment for them.
  • Samuel, my son in the Lord
  • Those I have shared the Gospel with
  • Health: I’m trying to eat healthy and exercise and I always take medicine but I can’t seem to consistently control my blood sugar.

Again, I am so thankful for each of you; your prayers, your financial support, reading my newsletters, your emails and your love.

Be Blessed!
