Dear family and friends,

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and were brought into closer relationship with Jesus Christ and with those you love.

Here in Uganda, if you want Christmas, you have to make Christmas. We did it in a big way.

For the children at Welcome Home we had jump ropes, bubbles, a trip to the Nile Explorers Park, dancing, and we will go to the zoo this month. For almost all of our children and staff, this will be the first time they see a lion, giraffe, zebra, or elephant.

For the staff we played balloon volleyball, learned the chicken dance and the Macarena, had a scavenger hunt and a white elephant gift exchange.

During this time, we had Bible studies and devotions with the children and staff teaching them about the Christmas story (most are Christians but don’t know the basic stories and teachings of the Bible. All the activities cost nothing and it was worth all the time and effort to see the joy on faces and hear the laughter of having a good time.

Now, the season is coming to an end and the celebrations are over.

This is my vision for 2020: Continue being obedient to my God by spreading the Gospel of Jesus and His love by: training teachers to improve their skills and therefore their lives, sharing the Gospel with those God sends my way, being a positive influence of the love of God in the villages and locally in Jinja.

As the new year begins, I have a challenge I would like you to pray about:  I have had it on my heart to start a cell group for the locals in Jinja. We would meet weekly and have Bible Study and prayer. The need for good Bible teaching is great. Most pastors here don’t teach Scripture. They tell stories about themselves. My cell would focus on Scripture only with opportunity for people to ask questions and in the process know God better. A friend of Samuel (the guy I’m discipling) gave me a venue to start this.

Thank you for joining me in this ministry. Thank you for your prayers, support, emails, encouragement and love.

God Bless and Prosper you in Him as you start the New Year!

Janet Mulford
