The woman in the street
As I was going to "The Keep" for lunch, I saw a woman lying in the middle of the street with cars and motorbikes going around her and people stepping around her. She was dressed in brown torn rags with a rope tied around her. I was surprised and annoyed that no one stopped to help her. She is someone's daughter, someone's mother... As I looked closer, I noticed she was covered in open sores. I spoke with one woman on the street who said she does this once a month. The woman thought it was a demonic attack. I replied that it doesn't matter what is wrong with her, she can't be in the street. I then asked for help and two women came to help me "drag her" to the side of the road.
I wish I could do more. I tried to call the police twice and both times the emergency number was busy. I asked others to help and no one did; either they didn't want to get dirty or, more likely, they didn't know what to do. I wonder what Jesus would have done...

Oh Janet, bless your kind and loving heart. How frustrated it must have been. Have you seen or heard any more about her since. I will be praying for her, and for you. Love you!
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible! God will bless you for trying to help her.
