20190817 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you for all the love expressed to me since I’ve been in the States. You have prayed for me, hugged me, housed me, fed me, driven me, listened to my stories, blessed me financially, waited in Doctors, government and DMV offices, and generally just loved on me. It’s great seeing those of you I can, both old friends and the new ones I got to know at Forest Home and other places I’ve been. If you would like to connect in person or by phone, my number is: 760-974-7556. I’d love to hear from you. I’ll be returning to Uganda mid-September.

Right before I left Uganda, I saw a little boy starve to death. His Moslem mother was desperate; maybe she brought him to the mosque, or the witch doctor, or the traditional medicine doctor. In the end she brought him to the church. We just happened to stop by the church that day to say “Hello”, when we saw the boy and his mother. He was immediately sent to the hospital, but it was too late. He couldn’t be saved. This began a new ministry of Welcome Home.

You see, Welcome Home isn’t just about helping children, it’s about helping those in need; whether it’s a starving baby, men and women who need job skills to support their families, a small business loan to start a business, training teachers to greater effectiveness in ministry, giving a meal or blessing whoever God sends our way to help. I’m privileged to be a small part of it. Wells were recently installed in the village so people don’t have to drink from the filthy water on the ground. Since then, the village people are healthier and less end up in hospital with bacterial infections.

While I’ve been back, I’ve become aware of so many lonely, hurting people who have no one to talk with, and because they are different in some way, they have virtually no friends. When you read the news, one becomes aware that there’s so much to do here in the States. God has a call, a plan and a job for each of us. We are all “fishermen”. That’s what is great about the body of Christ.
