Dear Friends and Family,
“I don’t understand… if God has all power, why doesn’t He change the world and make people do good?”
“God has given us that responsibility. He has asked us to do things to make the environment a better place to live, but most importantly He has given us the responsibility to tell people about Jesus who alone has the power to change hearts and lives one person at a time. As you get older, God will show you what He wants you to do”.
“How do you know a thought is from God?”
“I give every thought this test: If the thought agrees with what the Bible says about Him, others and myself, it’s from God. If it doesn’t agree, it’s not from God and I shouldn’t listen to it or believe it”
These are typical daily conversations I have with my middle and high school students. They are hungry for the truth. They want to know God more. I’m so thankful for your faithful prayer and support on my behalf these last 3 years to make it possible.
I’m going to miss my students as I leave and follow the new chapter God has for me.
• I have a senior who is suffering from senioritis as he can’t wait for school to end and graduation to come. At the same time he is scared because he will be leaving the security of the Christian school he has known since 5th grade and going to university (or the Korean army) where he knows no one. He will have to adjust to adult life and making decisions for himself. I pray we have given him enough tools to do that.
• I will be leaving my 6th grade Danish student who sometimes feels so along because she is the only student from Denmark and she still struggles to communicate in English.
• I’ll be saying “Goodbye” to my 7th grade Rwandan girl who has such a sensitivity to the injustices and suffering in the world because of the bullying she has experienced in her life. I know God has a special plan for her involving helping those who have no voice.
• I’ll be leaving my 2 new Korean students 7th and10th grade who are still afraid and adjusting to living in Africa, going to an American school and learning English.
• I’ll say “Goodbye” to my 8th grade student who is in Learning Support 2 hours a day who, although he has made tremendous progress this year, fails to see his value to God or anyone else.
I’m trusting God with these kids and the rest of my students as I know I have given them the truth of God’s love, security and direction for their lives.
I’m excited about the next chapter in my life: teaching basic, practical Bible in Ugandan villages. Honestly, a little nervous, because it’s a new venture for me but also thrilled that God still considers me valuable to His Kingdom and He can still use me in spite of myself. I've been doing an in-depth study of the people in Scripture listed in Hebrews 11. These are the men and women God considers examples of faith. I've come to the conclusion that if God can use them, He can use me in Uganda. I'm excited!
Thanks for joining me in continued prayer and financial support as I transition to Uganda. Thank you also for all the other ways you have blessed me.
If God leads you to give financially or to "up" your support, please note the changes in giving methods listed below.
For His Kingdom,
Janet
