Dear Family and Friends,

This passing year has brought protests and riots, a lingering worldwide pandemic, and terrorist attacks throughout the world. Many of us have suffered personal losses of family and loved ones. As fear and uncertainty fills our nations, we are reminded again of the only one that can heal and bring lasting peace, Jesus Christ. As we celebrate this Christmas season, let’s include Him in the festivities, traditions and celebrations. After all Christmas is about Him.

I’m enjoying connecting with family and friends while I’m in the States for a time. Celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas is especially meaningful to me because this is the first year I’ve been in the States during this season in over 20 years. I’m enjoying the sights and smells of Christmas because it reminds me of Jesus-but then, everything reminds me of Jesus!

One of the things I need to do while in the States is help my Mom. She is aging and needs extra physical and emotional support at this time while she considers various living options for her future. God has called me to serve him overseas (and I plan to return to Uganda and the babies’ home), but I believe the Scripture teaches that ones’ family comes first. To God, helping my Mom is a priority higher than missions at this time so I plan to stay with her for awhile to help her get settled. I am grateful for your continued support and prayer as my financial needs will actually be higher while I’m in the States.

1 Timothy 5

But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing-g to God.

Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

16 If any woman who is a believer has widows in her care, she should continue to help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.

Before I return to Uganda, I need a resident visa. In order to complete this process, I need an FBI background check which requires a fingerprint scan. My problem is, no one can read my fingerprints. Please pray with me that my fingerprints will show up this next week as I try again.

I hope to visit with as many of you as possible while I’m in the States. I have a new US cellphone number: 442-269-1794. Of course you can always reach me at myrapline@gmail.com.

God’s Richest Blessings to You!

Enjoy the celebration of the coming of our Lord!

Janet Mulford
