Dear Family and Friends,
I’m so thankful for your love, prayers and support. I would
not even think about being in Africa without committed friends like you! The
Apostle Paul says in Col 1:3-4 (ESV) “We always
thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, since we
heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the
saints.” This is how
I feel towards you. I’m so thankful for your faith in Christ Jesus and your
love for those who serve Him in other lands.
Meet my friend Dong
Hee Kim (Danny), one of my 6th grade students. Danny’s parents
are missionaries who were sent by their church in Korea to spread Jesus’ love
in Rwanda. Danny considers himself a missionary as well. He knows that God has
brought not only his parents, but his whole family as missionaries. When he
gets older he wants to serve Jesus full-time. Danny’s Korean background is much
different from Rwanda. He not only had to adjust to life in Africa but also
learn English to survive in an American Christian school. I am very proud to
have Danny as one of my ELL students.
Danny told me that in Korea he was a “Sunday Christian” as
he called it. He had the privilege of
attending a DTS (Discipleship training school through Youth with a Mission) in Australia.
It was there he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. In that year his
whole family completely changed. His parents gave up good jobs in Korea to
become missionaries to Rwanda. Now his family prays together every night for
grace and mercy. Praise God for raising up a new generation that will love,
obey and serve Him. I feel so honored to be part of it.
On a personal level:
My health is improving! My numbers are in the normal range for blood sugar,
cholesterol, and eye pressure. I still take medication, but everything is under
control. God is healing me little by little through your prayers. Praise Him!
A new item for prayer: I’ve met with my
cell group leader (called a home fellowship or Bible study group in USA) and
she has asked if I would consider leading a cell group. Would you help me pray
for God’s guidance in this?
Thanks again for your love, prayers and support.
